Destin Sharks shutout Vernon Yellow Jackets in tennis

It was total domination by both the girls and boys Destin High Shark tennis teams on Tuesday as they posted 7-0 victories over the visiting Vernon Yellow Jackets at the Destin Tennis Club at Seascape Resort. 

“I was proud of the team today for their good effort and great sportsmanship,” said Destin Coach Holley Guarachi.

The Destin girls were led by Isabella Grzebieluch, who posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Vernon’s Kaylee Ward. Playing in the No. 2 spot for Destin was Addi Harrison who won 6-0, 6-1 over Emily Flick. Destin’s Caitlin Smith and Reagan Reiker blanked their Vernon opponents, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, Grzebieluch teamed up with Harrison for an 8-0 victory, as did Smith and Reiker.

In boys' action, Destin coaches decided to switch things around some and move some of the players up in the seeding. 

Destin’s Pierre Lauduniey, playing in the No. 1 spot on Tuesday, beat Hayden Simmons, 6-1, 6-0. Gates Chipser, No. 2 for the Sharks, beat Drake Boswell, 6-0, 6-0. Jalen Camargo, at No. 3, beat Ashton Mitchell, 6-0, 6-1. Destin’s Carson McQuaig won his match, 6-0, 6-0 and Taite McQuaig, won 6-0, 6-1. 

Destin High Shark Gates Chipser, playing in the No. 2 spot on Tuesday, beat his opponent, 6-0, 6-0.

In boys' doubles, Destin’s Charlie Frankfurt teamed up with James Campbell to secure an 8-0 victory. Andy Jackson and Tysen Camargo pulled together for an 8-0 victory for the Sharks. 

After Tuesday game against Vernon, the Lady Sharks sit at 10-1 and the boys at 8-4.
