Destin High Sharks fall to Crestview in final tennis match of season

The Destin High Shark tennis team lost their last match of the season to the visiting Crestview High Bulldogs on Thursday afternoon at the Destin Tennis Center at Seascape Resort. 

The Destin girls lost 3-4, while the boys went down 1-6. 

“It was a tough last match of the season, but we’re happy both girls and boys teams had a winning season,” said Destin Coach Holley Guarachi. 

Destin High Shark Caroline Campbell beat her Crestview opponent 6-0, 6-1.

With the loss on Thursday, the Destin girls wrapped up with a 10-2 mark on the season, while the boys finished 8-5. 

As for Thursday’s competition against Crestview, not only were the players battling each other, but also a wind that kept the players off balance as well as dust from the clay courts.

In girls singles, Destin’s No. 1 Isabella Grzebieluch lost 3-6, 0-6 to Kaya Wolfgramm of Crestview. Destin’s No. 2 Addi Harrison went down 4-6, 2-6. 

Destin's Reagan Reiker played in the No. 4 hole against Crestview. She lost a close match, 6-2, 3-6 (14-16).

Playing in the No. 3 spot, Caitlin Smith won 6-3, 6-2 for the Sharks. Destin’s No. 4, Reagan Reiker lost a battle, 6-2, 3-6 (14-16).  

Caroline Campbell claimed the other singles victory for the Sharks with a 6-0, 6-1 win. 

In doubles play, Grzebieluch and Harrison lost 4-8, while Reiker and Smith pulled in an 8-2 victory for the Sharks. 

Destin's Vlad Stasenka, playing in the No. 4 spot, posted the only victory for the boys against Crestview. He won 6-3, 6-2.

In boys singles, it was a tough day for the Sharks with Flad Stasenka, in the No. 4 spot, pulling in the only victory. He posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Caleb Wayer of Crestview.

Destin’s Charlie Frankfurt lost 1-6, 0-6; Andy Jackson lost 3-6, 1-6; Tysen Camargo, lost 3-6, 6-2 (10-12); and Pierre Lauduniey lost 4-6, 6-3 (7-10). 

In doubles, Destin’s Frankfurt and Camargo lost 3-8, and Jackson and Gates Chipser lost 1-8.
