Freeport Bulldogs take bite out of Destin Sharks in high school softball

The Freeport Bulldogs pounded out 17 hits to defeat the Destin High Sharks 17-1 in girls varsity softball action Thursday evening at Morgan Sports Center in Destin. 

Leading Freeport was Corissa Duggar with three hits, including a three-run homer in the second inning. Graison Dorr also had three hits, including a double and two singles, while Kayla Stephens slapped a two-run homer in the second and a single in the third.

Destin struggled at the plate, connecting for only two hits. Olivia “YaYa” McClain singled to left in the first inning and Neilya Stewart singled in the third to knock in the only Shark run.

Freeport scored one run in the first, and then eight in the second on six hits.  

Destin's Londyn Albee manned the pitching circle for the Sharks.

In the top of the third, Freeport added eight more runs. 

With the loss the Sharks drop to 1-9 on the season, while Freeport improves to –2.
